For 2021 Alex will be competing in the ITU World and British Duathlon Championships representing Great Britain. He also aims to achieve a sub-48 25mile TT and a sub-19 10 mile so  will be racing in quite a few Time Trails throughout the season.

LISA DAVIS

Lisa came to the sport as a veteran and started racing in 2014. Her focus is time trialling where she has won six national medals across all distances from open and closed circuit to the 12hr and in 2020 she won bronze BBAR. Long distance is her passion and outside of time trialling her longest unsupported ride is 1700km in 96hrs on a road bike with mudguards and fully loaded!

Lisa lives in Sussex where she enjoys the sporting courses and has had numerous open wins and won the BAR, points competitions and long distance trophies for several years.  As well as racing she loves training and hosts camps each spring in southern Europe for ladies ranging from enthusiastic amateurs to Olympians.

HENRY SLEIGHT

Having raced my first triathlon 20 years ago I have tried a racing at most things on a bike but now returned to a more triathlon focused race season. I was National Age Group champion in 2013 over the standard distance triathlon and then moved to race in the Pro category of the European Xterra (off road triathlon series) for a few years. In 2016 I was selected to race for the GBR Elite team at the Cross Triathlon European championship held in Switzerland, finishing 11th European and 15th overall.

In early 2017 Henry was involved in an accident with a horse which scuppered any plans he had to race in the early part of the year.  He pulled it back though to go on and take second in his age group at the British triathlon  middle distance championships.

JULIA SHAW

I have competed in time trials from 10miles to 100miles as well sporting courses in the UK, Europe and beyond, but have also raced at international level in road races and track pursuit as well as sportives and triathlons.

I have done this as an amateur so fully understand the demands of juggling training as well as work and home commitments.

MARK HOLTON

I first visited Drag2Zero as a customer in 2009. As a test engineer (of jet aircraft) by trade, I understood the value of good testing. By this time I’d been using a power meter for several years and had spent long hours field testing to improve my position. I’d realised by this stage however, that the quality (accuracy) and efficiency (precious training time wasted) of field testing could be improved upon.

From my first wind tunnel session I realised the value of both the facilities and the expertise behind Drag2Zero. Within a week I’d won my first National TT Series event (beating a certain M.Bottrill – who only reset the balance after becoming a Drag2Zero customer himself a few years later). I subsequently became a regular wind tunnel guinea pig, and helped found the D2Z team who I have been proud to ride for ever since, collecting a nice haul of National Championship medals in the process.

The last few years I’ve been dealing with anxiety and depression, issues which have stopped me being able to race (among many other things). I’m now improving rapidly and riding again, and hoping to enjoy the fun of racing soon.

MARK JONES

Mark started time trialling in 1984 aged 13 riding for Wolverhampton Wheelers. He continued riding the local A5 club 10`s until going to university when he decided to hang up his wheels. In 1999 a career move to Oxfordshire made regular cycling possible and thus after a few year’s commuting up and down the a40 he decided to start racing again.

Since then he has clocked up over 35 sub 20 minute 10 mile time trials and 9 18 minute tens. A firm believer in attention to detail and the benefits of aerodynamics he hopes to continue achieving fast times well into his veteran years.

RICHARD D. HARRISON

Richard started time trialling about 7 years ago, looking for a new challenge after a cycling trip to the Alps. He soon got hooked and invested in some proper gear. Having made good progress in his times, in the winter of 2013 he visited Simon and the team at the Drag2Zero windtunnel. Being a Formula One aerodynamicist himself, Richard was able to work well with Simon and they had a fruitful session culminating in some decent improvements.

Since then Richard has continued to reduce his race times in 10 and 25mile time trials, and in 2016 was finally able to break into the sub-19 minute club for a 10.

In 2016 Richard had the opportunity to combine his professional skills with his love of cycling but working on a project to design a hand bike for one of TeamGB’s Paralympians. The result was a gold medal in Rio!!

2017 sees Richard join the D2Z race team and his main aim is to further reduce his personal best times over the 10 & 25mile distances. He also wants to put in some solid performances in the National Championship events over the same distances, having felt that he has underachieved in this arena in the past.

KIMBERLEY MORRISON

Kimberley is 3 x Ironman70.3 Champion, 2 x Bronze National Time Trial Medalist, the second faster British rider over 100miles and holds multiple long and middle distance triathlon bike course records.

Kimberley started racing Professionally after becoming the European Age Group Triathlon Champion in Kitzbuhel, Austria in 2014.

Kimberley underwent life saving heart surgery at Great Ormond’s Street Childrens Hospital when she was a young girl and has had big ambitions throughout her sporting career and supports the charity credibly sharing her love of sport.

Kimberely also has her eyes set on a Guinness World Record…

CHRIS GOODFELLOW

With a background in semi-professional rugby, a knee injury forced me out of the sport and into the pool.

As my knee slowly got better, a friend lent me his old road bike. Next thing I know I was entered into Ironman Switzerland 2005. Come race day my knee held together and I finished the race.

I loved everything about the race and what it involved. From the hours of training to the finishing cute – I loved every second.

Since 2005 I have completed 21 Ironman distance races, with my current personal best standing at 8hrs 47mins 06 seconds at Challenge Copenhagen 2012.

For me pushing my boundaries and seeing where my limits are makes me feel alive.

In 2017, Chris won the Dambuster Triathlon, came 2nd in his age group and 5th overall in the British triathlon middle distance championships, and the following week, 1st in his age group at Weymouth 70.3. He also place 2nd overall in Breca Coniston. A nice way to finished off his racing for 2017.

KIERON DAVIES

Having started time trialling in 2011, I have always been full of admiration for the riders who ride for drag2zero.  Amateur cyclists with full time jobs who knock out incredible times in all events that the team riders attend.  So being offered the opportunity to ride for the team after working with Simon Smart was a real privilege.   Cycling is a hobby, or should I say an addictive hobby! A brilliant activity to take my mind away for a couple of hours when not teaching 6-7 year old children full time.

Originally cycling was seen for me to a way back to start playing rugby after recovering from a serious and career ending injury. Now being diagnosed with OCD, obsessive cycling disorder it is a sport  that I wish I would have been introduced to when a youngster.

I have always admired times produced by Michael Hutchinson and especially no other than Matt Bottrill and how fast top riders go. So for me my goal is to go as quick as my body allows and with the help and support from the team I should have the best possible chance.

During 2017 Kieron recorded a number of PBs and has become the National CTT Champ over 100 miles.

PAUL “WAL” WELSBY

Has been time trialling for years and fits this in between wind tunnel sessions!

LEE PIERCY

An extremely proud Dad of 2 kids, Oscar (5)  and Elise (3).  Hopelessly trying to juggle family, a demanding career and sport.

Lee has won over 100 duathlons outright and competed for Great Britain at both Pro/Elite and Amateur level for the last 12 years in multiple World and European Championships.

  • 2nd Overall including Elites at USA National Sprint Duathlon Champs 2017

RACHAEL ELLIOTT

Rachael came to time trialling from a running background and like many, came to sport relatively late in life. Regular running injuries saw her switch disciplines and after two years of dabbling – during which she won the World Brompton Championship twice – she eventually moved into time trialling.

As well as riding, Rachael loves organising events and promotes a number of time trials each year for the Newbury Road Club. If “dabbling” results in winning the Brompton twice, we are excited to see what taking it to the next level will do for Rachael!

Rachael’s goals for 2017 are to ride a 19 minute 10 mile time trial and she will also try and re-break her 30 mile record. On joining the team Rachael said “I am looking forward to riding with a really strong team of ladies and seeing what we can achieve with national team medals and records!”

Achievements while riding for Drag2Zero:

  • Silver medal 25 mile CTT Championships
  • Team 25 and 50 mile competition record broken with team mates Kate Allan and Alice Lethbridge
  • Winner elite race CVR World Cup
  • Various course records and PBs broken

ALICE LETHBRIDGE

Like some of our other team members, Alice was a runner, competing in long distance on track, cross country and field.  She competed for England Juniors at cross country at the same time that fellow team mate Vicky Gill competed for the seniors.

Watching the Olympics at Box Hill while waiting for surgery on her foot, she decided cycling looked like more fun than cross training in the gym and that is where her love of cycling started.  Injury forced her to stop running and so she now throws all her effort into time trialling.

Alice’s achievements in her first year of riding for the team are:

  • Broke the 100 mile record
  • 2017 National 100 mile CTT Champion
  • 12 hour record holder beating Beryl Burton’s longstanding record
  • Team 25 mile competition record broken with team mates Kate Allan and Rachael Elliott
  • Silver medal National 10 mile CTT Championships

ALAN MURCHISON

Alan is ex Scottish international runner who has run 29 minutes for 10k. Alan got back into running & cycling 8 years ago after some considerable time out of the sport and has won 6 World & European duathlon age group titles and also won outright the London Duathlon which is the worlds biggest duathlon.

GAVIN HINXMAN

I am Gavin Hinxman, I am 49 years old & started time trialling in 1982 at 14 years old.
I have generally been racing throughout.

I started with Welland Valley Wheelers & did 31.28 for my 1st 10m TT on a sports bike. By the end of that season l was down to 26.56
As a junior, I had the overall club record for 10 (21.17) and the 12 hour! (249.362 miles).

I got a coach in 2006 & have been coached ever since.

My game improved in 2015 beating all my previous bests and doing my first 19 min 10 (having been trying for 30 years!)
And once again, a ‘best ever’ year in 2016, being coached by Mark Jones and including a d2z wind tunnel session, which included two 18’s, two 49’s, a 1-42 & a 3-38 ‘100’

2017 was my first season riding for drag2zero, still receiving excellent coaching by Mark & support from d2z & it’s going great.
Equipped with the Plasma 5, d2z disc, ENVE 7.8 and d2z extensions – I will ride the VTTA champs (I was fastest in the 10, 3rd in the 15) and the CTT Nat champs, as well as plenty of trips to Hirwaun & South Cave.

My guilty pleasure this year is an aero’d-up old trike that I built up over the winter, and this year I have broken a number of course records on it.

I do try to ‘put back into the sport’, organising an annual open TT (I organised my first open TT as an 18 year old) plus marshalling and time-keeping for the Kettering CC.

Thanks to Simon, Natalie & the team for the inclusion, welcome & support. I’m very proud to be part of the team and will do as much as I can to represent us well.

KATE ALLAN

Kate joined the team in 2015.  Having focussed primarily on triathlon prior to this she decided to put more effort into time trialling.  Shortly after joining the team Kate discovered that she was pregnant and so 2016 was not quite the year she was expecting.  Finlay Allan arrived early which was most considerate of him as it enabled Kate to get back in the saddle before the end of the season!

Kate set her primary goals for 2017 as competing at the CTT National 10, 25, 50 and 100 mile Championships (and podium if she can), and also try and better her PBs in each of the distances. She ticked most of those boxes as she took first place in the National 50, second place in the National 100 and 3rd place in the National 10.    With her team mates she beat the 25 and 50 mile team comp records by a considerable margin and has clocked sizeable PBs over all distances.  Kate announced towards the end of the 2017 season that she would be giving racing a rest during 2018, we are looking forward to seeing her back when she is ready to come back to competitive cycling.
