Ergo Poles
Traditional angled poles control hand height by changing the bend in the pole. Increasing the angle in this way achieves the desired height but is usually not optimal for hand angle – pole and hand angle being different things. It varies from rider to rider but usually, a grip angle of 35-50 degrees is optimal for ergonomics. With our classic poles, we developed different angled grips to change the grip angle to be more ergonomic resulting in an s bend.
Hi and Low rise poles have different pole angles but the same grip angles so both are ergonomically optimised.
Pole angle (without angled shim) | Grip angle (without angled shim) | |
HI Rise Pole | 25 | 33 |
Low Rise Pole | 15 | 33 |
For more information and dimensions please see the D2Z Ergo pole technical information document.
Pole End Grips
For improved ergonomics and aerodynamics, our ski poles have an elliptical end section. To turn this elliptical shape into a circle to accommodate your shifter, we supply a range of grips or a track plug. You cannot insert your shifter into the end of the pole without a grip.
For the ultimate comfort, ergonomics and aerodynamics, we recommend the Ergo Grip. Manufactured from a semi-soft plastic material, it only works with the small electronic shift buttons from SRAM and Shimano. This provides a very neutral hand grip which encourages the rider to relax their wrist and hand promoting a slightly curved shape to the top of the hand (similar to the S-bend adapter offered on our standard ski pole). This grip is usually not suitable for UCI applications (see the D2Z End Grip Technical Document for more information).
Straight-end grips offer the most cost-effective solution and means to attach any shifter to the elliptical ski pole. For UCI applications where reach restrictions make it difficult for the rider to stretch out, we offer short grips for SRAM and Shimano button shifters to give the most scope for maximising the space for the rider. Solutions are also offered for mechanical shifting. Please see the D2Z End Grip Technical Document for more information on which to order. All grips are shown in the photo gallery.
See here for installation instructions for grip using a Shimano Double-button shifter.

The grips supplied are those here. Some of the photos in the gallery show the original style of grips which are no longer available.
Complete your set-up
For the ultimate in aero efficiency and comfort, we recommend these poles be used with a tilting system that will tilt the pole and armrests together. Our D2Z Under Arm Ski Pole system aims to offer you a custom solution with off-the-shelf parts. We supply a pole clamp, armrests, angled shim and risers to achieve this. Read more information on the D2Z UnderArm Ski Pole System.
We have teamed up with 76 Projects to supply computer mounts specific to the contour of our poles. See the Mounts page for more information

Universal Angled Shims
Most dual podium bikes can use our Universal Angled shims. You will require a flat mount surface on your basebar or proprietary riser and a bolt spacing of between 20-40mm.
Bike-Specific Mounting Kits
Consisting of one or two plates or spacers mounted on your bike’s basebar or risers, to allow our universal angled shims and pole clamps to be used.
**All parts detailed in information guides are to be fitted**
- Trek Speed Concept pre-2022
- Trek 2022+ Gen1 Mounting Kit
- Shiv Tri Disc (mono podium)
- Cervelo Aduro Bar
- Cervelo P5 or Px
- Scott Plasma 6
- Factor Hanzo
- Factor Slick
- Canyon CF SLX and CFR 2022+
- CANYON 2019-2020
- Orbea Ordu
- Argon18 E-119tri+ Disc V1 Mono Conversion
- Shiv TT pre-2020 – when not using the cross brace, to use our system you need two small inserts that sit in the Shiv basebar to make it flat (see gallery above), our angled shims then mount on top.
- Shiv TT post-2020 – standard twin podium set up, no plate or adapter required
- Giant Trinity – this does not require a conversion plate, see here for more information. If you are ordering a kit for the Giant and are also ordering our spacers, you will need to ensure you order the 5mm spacers, along with any additional spacers to achieve the stack you need.
- Factor Hanzo – this does not need an adapter plate – our angled shims, pole clamps and poles will mount directly onto the Hanzo universal adapter, but please make a note on your order that it is for a Hanzo.
- Felt IA – the bolt spacing on some basebars supplied with the Felt is too small for the standard twin podium set-up to work. Our USP System can be installed using the Reach Adjustment Plates. Please email us for more information.
